The Allegretto Ensemble
The Allegretto Ensemble is a musical group which loves to play many kinds of music. The basic group consists of three violinists and one guitarist. During any given performance the musicians will exchange instruments to include cello and mandolins. On occasion the group is augmented by talented friends who provide bass, percussion and voices.
The Allegretto Ensemble treats listeners to a repertoire of Classical and Folk music, which encompasses Ragtime music, Bluegrass, Hebrew music, Irish, Russian, Welch, English, Blues and Jazz.
Listening to the group play, the audience experiences a range of compositions from Franz Shubert’s Ave Maria to a rollicking old Irish tune called Harvest Home. The ensemble goes from a grand violin solo, to a mandolin duet, to a cello solo woven into and supported by violins and guitar.
The ensemble uses some of the newest and finest amplification equipment available. The Bose Tower is the backbone of the sound system and the three violins use matching “Realists” pickups. Recording is done at the Richard & Roxane Music School using state-of-the-art software.
The Allegretto Ensemble is fortunate to have the expertise of violin maker Bill Johnson. He built Richard’s violin, and when scheduling permits Bill joins the group to discuss his craft. At concert intermission he takes questions about his exhibit of violin parts and tools.
We’d love to play at your venue or for your special event.
